Audiofile Review

by Reality Winner | Read by Rachel Perry

Biography & Memoir • 10.75 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2025

Now released from prison, former NSA linguist Reality Winner becomes all the more compelling with narrator Rachel Perry's measured performance. Perry captures Winner's earnest desire to be a patriot serving her country. It was Winner's passion for learning languages that led to her being awarded an Air Force Commendation Medal, though those actions gave her PTSD in the process. She describes her impulse to anonymously leak a five-page classified document revealing evidence that Russia had indeed interfered with the 2016 election. The many emotions Winner experienced from the ensuing fallout, including the pain of a one-sided trial (she could not speak on her own behalf), the horrors experienced while imprisoned, and the challenge of putting her shattered life back together, are all empathetically delivered by Perry. AudioFile Review

by Brigid Schulte | Read by Rachel Perry

Contemporary Culture • 12.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2024

Popular author Brigid Schulte delves into the complicated problem of a struggling and exhausted American workforce with thorough investigative reporting, bold arguments, and comprehensive recommendations on how to fix it. Rachel Perry approaches her narration with the same intensity that the author has as she explains crucial research, channels personal stories of burnout, and discloses Schulte's solutions. She encourages listeners to relate, understand, and hear proposals for a more leisurely and happier life that will benefit both employers and employees. Time management, demographic analysis, statistics on overworking and its effects on health, and a revisit to a time when Americans didn't feel such levels of work-related stress are all intriguingly discussed. Audiofile Review

by Melodie Edwards | Read by Rachel Perry

Romantic Fiction • 10.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2024

Narrator Rachel Perry will convince listeners that no retelling of Jane Austen's PERSUASION can be complete without a resident attack goose. Anne Elliott, director of Niagara-on-the-Lake's theater company, thinks Ben Wentworth is just a memory--until he returns to help with his aunt and uncle's winery on former Elliott property. Perry portrays Anne as deeply interior, full of pain and repressed longing. This emotional, husky reading is not for prosaic people. But for hopeless romantics, Perry's expressions of Anne's angst juxtaposed with Ben's quiet, low rejoinders will be satisfying listening fodder. Perry situates Edwards's small-town humor alongside the melodrama of historical reenactors chasing manic geese at the annual pumpkin festival. Austen fans cannot go wrong with this listen. by Harvard Business Review | Read by Daniel Henning, Rachel Perry

Business & Finance • 2 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2017

Daniel Henning and Rachel Perry share the narration of this collection of six timely articles from HARVARD BUSINESS REVIEW. They deliver transparent and thoughtful performances. Both know how to communicate these well-considered arguments and pace their readings accordingly. Empathy and care are on display as this audiobook asks, "Why do some people and some companies buckle under pressure" . . . while others "bend"? As topics range from mindfulness to finding coaching in criticism, the authors deliver well-researched arguments that make listeners examine their assumptions. The text combines serious suggestions--face reality, have values, and be nimble adapting to change--with anecdotes, case histories, and insights into famous folk who have been exceptionally resilient, such as Jimmy Carter, Steve Jobs, and Martha Stewart.
